Wet Felted Sunset Spiral

Wet felted wall hanging mounted on a pine stretch frame.  Fibres used include merino wool, mulberry silk, viscose and wensleydale curls.  Each of the 63 sunset coloured petals were hand felted in place individually.  the fibres used have a gorgeous tactile nature as you run your fingers overs them and the felted petals lie loosely on top of one another forming a spiral.  
 
The spiral symbol represents the journey from the outer conscious life of the material and perceptions therein to the inner depths and awareness of the soul.  It follows the movement between the seen or outer world and the unseen inner or intuitive world.  You find the spiral design on many Neolithic rock engravings as perhaps a way of celebrating and marking this journey.  
 
The spiral represents a coming to awareness, a re-sensing and rebirth of soul connection.  It is an expansion of the soul moving from the core outwards.  It brings with it balance, centring, awareness, growth and a sense of spiritual journeying.
 
The spiral symbol can bring a sense of universal growth, rebirth and evolution, a continuity and eternal flow of energies.
