Kraken Rising

Kraken Rising

This was a piece created for the 'A Space to Grow' exhibiton at The Barony Centre in West Kilbride.

This is a wet and needle felted piece, a wall hanging, showing a human form in silhouette floating on the surface of the sea.

Underneath are dolphins and seals swimming up to the form.  At the very bottom are tentacles of the Kraken, a hidden warning from the depths of the sea.

All are but shadows travelling through this beautiful world.

The sky is kept plain white as all of the action is taking place underneath the surface.  This illustrates most of our minds when we think of the sea and life therein that supports and nurtures us on so many different levels.

Should the Kraken be released and made manifest?  Only in adversity do we find the space to truly grow….
